Pet Friendly Pigeon Forge: 4 Tips for Traveling with 4-legged Family Members

Let's take a moment to "paws" and think about how much fun you and four-legged friend can have together in Pigeon Forge. If you are traveling with your pet, you'll find lots of Fido-friendly accommodations and things to do in Pigeon Forge and the Great Smoky Mountains.

Here four tips to help you make your next Pigeon Forge getaway even more fun for you and your family – four-legged fur children included!

Pigeon Forge is home to wide range of lodging options; including everything from four-star hotels to rustic cabins to primitive campgrounds.  Many of these accommodations accept pets; do your homework before making a reservation. Terry Kay Cabin Rentals, Black Bear Lodging, Great Outdoor Rentals, Great Cabins in the Smokies and Hearthside Cabin Rentals all offer dog-friendly rentals; local hotels including Hampton Inn on the Parkway and Rodeway Inn also offer pet-friendly rooms.

2. Take advantage of boarding services.

Even if your hotel or cabin is pet-friendly, not every activity on your agenda will welcome your furry friend. Take advantage of boarding and doggie daycare services to give your pooch something fun to do while you're out and about. Doggywood at Dollywood offers daycare services for park goers; the Barker Lounge in Sevierville gives Fido a fun place to play while you're having fun along the Parkway! Reservations are requested and you'll need to show proof of shots and vaccinations before leaving you dog for the day.

3. Bring a bit of home with you.

Keep your dog comfortable on the road or in the hotel by bringing a favorite toy, blanket or pillow on the trip with you. The familiar item will likely help your dog stay calm and relaxed in new surroundings, even on vacation.

4. Explore the Great Smoky Mountains.

According to information from the National Parks Service, leashed pets are allowed in campgrounds, picnic areas and along roads in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. While trails and backcountry areas are off limits, these public areas give you and your pooch many opportunities to take in everything the mountains have to offer.
