PigeonForge.com Midnight 8K is Coming Up!

We’re getting really excited about this year’s PigeonForge.com Midnight 8K road race! If you’re interested in joining us, the race is set to take place Saturday, August 6, 2011 inPigeon Forge.  Participants will line up at 11:50 pm on August 6 and the race will start at midnight.   The course is flat and fast and this year’s event will be the State Championship 8K for Tennessee.

This is the 2nd year for the race since it’s revival in 2010.  This race has been a very popular event since 1981 when David Morris and several members of the Smoky Mountain Striders started the race.  Morris and Co-Directors managed the race for 15 years before turning the race over to the Pigeon Forge Police and High School.  After a few years, the race was cancelled and has not been held for about 7 years.

The Holiday Inn Hotel and Convention Center will serve as the Official Headquarters and hotel for the event.  Pre-race staging will take place in the parking lot at the Sevier County Bank on the Parkway.  Post race and awards ceremony will take place in the Holiday Inn Hotel and Covention Center.

Cost for registration is $20 during early registration which ends on July 22, 2011.  Beginning on July 23 through August 3, cost is $25.  No registrations will be accepted August 4 or 5.  Race day registration cost is $30.  Participants can go to the KTC website for details on registration.  Expected participation is 750.  There is a wheelchair and hand-cycle division in this event.

Sponsors for the event include PigeonForge.com as the Title Sponsor, the Holiday Inn Pigeon Forge Hotel and Convention Center, the City of Pigeon Forge, and Sevier County Bank.
