Horseback Riding In The Smoky Mountains Horse Camps Horseback riding in the Smoky Mountains is an exciting way to enjoy the outdoors. There are about 550 miles of the park’s trails that are open to horses. If you own horses, take advantage of the park’s horse camps. There are five different horseback riding camps located throughout the Smoky Mountains at various locations: Anthony Creek, Big Creek, Cataloochee, Roundbottom, and Towstring. All horse camps require a reservation for use. For more information, stop by any park visitor center for a map or call (865) 436-0120. If you wish to rent a horse, horseback riding by the hour is available at five different commercial stables located in the park from mid-March through late November. The average cost for horseback riding in the Smoky Mountains is about $30.00 per hour. Carriage rides and hayrides are also available at certain stables.
