HORSEBACK RIDING IN THE GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS

Great Smoky Mountains National Park | Activities

>>More Detailed Information On Horseback Riding

Horseback riding in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is an exciting way to enjoy the outdoors. There are about 550 miles of the park's trails that are open to horses. If you own horses, take advantage of the park's horse camps. There are five different horse camps available from which to choose. The camps provide ready access to backcountry horse trails. Horse camps are throughout the park at various locations: Anthony Creek, Big Creek, Cataloochee, Roundbottom, and Towstring. All horse camps require a reservation for use. For more information, stop by any park visitor center for a map or call (865) 436-0120.

If you wish to rent a horse, horseback riding by the hour is available at five different commercial stables located in the park from mid-March through late November. The average cost is about $20.00 per hour. Carriage rides and hayrides are also available at certain stables.
