Parks As Classrooms is an environmental education program for students in grades K-8. This allows teachers in communities surrounding the park to bring their students to the park for hands-on learning experiences.

 

The Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont is a year-round residential environmental education center in the Smokies that offers workshops, camps, and programs for everyone of all ages. For more information, call (865)-448-6709.

 

The Smoky Mountain Field School offers weekend workshops throughout the year. In cooperation with the National Park Service and the University of Tennessee, experts on Smoky Mountain plants, wildlife, and history lead programs. A fee is charged. For more information call (865)-974-0150.

 

For other educational opportunities, visit the Sugarlands, Cades Cove, and Oconaluftee Visitor Centers for interesting exhibits, movies, books, and artifacts. Dial 865-436-1200 for more information.
