What's New at Winterfest 2007?
Winterfest 2006-2007 has new attractions! Now you can see new light displays adorning the Parkway. One that you must see before Christmas, the “Twelve Days of Christmas” display, includes every item mentioned in the song. The dazzling display provides a helpful reminder to those of us who have forgotten all of the lyrics. Other light displays shine brightly in the form of snowflakes, characters from nursery rhyme stories, and patriotic themes. Be sure to see the lights this year!
Dollywood's Smoky Mountain Christmas presents a new show, through December 30, titled Dollywood's Babes in Toyland. The new performance hosts a fully orchestrated musical score with elaborate scenery and animated puppetry. There are acrobatic feats and, of course, the grand march of the toy soldiers.
Winterfest orchestrators have added a new event to Wilderness Wildlife Week, coming January 13-21, 2007, to highlight the region's rustic mountain music. David Holt, a Grammy award-winner, will host AppalachiaFest, with Doc Watson making a special appearance! AppalachiaFest is the place to enjoy the traditional mountain music of the Smokies.
