STOMP OUT! Breast Cancer Along The Rocky Top Wine Trail

Rocky Top Wineries

Join us for the Rocky Top Wine Trail’s annual STOMP Out Breast Cancer event on Sunday, October 7, 2017 at the Mountain Valley Winery. Registration begins at 8 am and the walk begins at 9 am. We will walk to 3 of the Rocky Top Wineries (Hillside Winery, Apple Barn Winery, and Mountain Valley Winery) there will fun activities at each location like grape stomping!

This year we are bringing the event home to Mountain Valley Winery! Our walk will start at Mountain Valley Winery, weave down to Apple Barn Winery for some apple bobbing and wine tasting, and then take us to Hillside Winery for the actual grape stomping!

Once we’ve all turned our feet purple and done our best impression of I Love Lucy stomping on grapes, we’ll then head back to Mountain Valley Winery for a well-deserved BBQ lunch, courtesy of Corky’s BBQ. The three “Pink” wines this year will be: Strawberry Blush at Mountain Valley Winery, Red/White Muscadine at Apple Barn Winery, and a delicious sparkling Apple Cranberry wine at Hillside Winery!

American Cancer Society

Hillside Winery, Apple Barn Winery, and Mountain Valley Winery will be participating in the event this year, and they will all have a “pink” wine. Five dollars of every bottle sold will be donated to the American Cancer Society! Tickets will include lunch, a bottle of water, a backpack filled with goodies, and a Rocky Top Wine Trail glass.

stomp out breast cancer event

History of the Event

It all started when Christine Kimmins, the first Wine Club Manager at Mountain Valley Winery, had the idea of producing a “pink” wine from the red/white Muscadine grapes that always herald the end of harvest in East TN. She and winemaker Doug Seitz then decided to pair this pink wine with the local Sevier County Relay for Life chapter and donate $5 per bottle for every bottle sold. Now, 10 years later, owner Don Collier and the wineries along the Rocky Top Wine Trail have donated well over $100,000 from the purchase of pink wines to help fund research and raise awareness for breast cancer.

Take A Ride On The Coaster At Goats On The Roof

goats on the roof alpine coaster

An experience like no other, The Coaster at Goats on the Roof is a thrilling excursion through the hills of the Smoky Mountains with a view that can’t be beat. The coaster’s carts are designed to comfortably carry two people, or you can ride solo with control over your own speed. We got the chance to ask owner Matthew Ayers some questions about just what makes The Coaster at Goats on the Roof such a one-of-a-kind adventure.

Why goats?

Who doesn’t love goats? They are great pets and everyone has such a unique personality that they are almost like people. They also love to let the kids pet them, especially when they have food.

How did you acquire the goats?

All the goats are from locals. The goats we do have always have their own babies every year. There is never a shortage of goats!

goats on the roof

What sets you apart from the other coasters in the area?

We pride ourselves in our track design. It has some of the tightest turns and most thrilling features out of all the coasters. Obviously, you can go slow and enjoy our amazing views, but people looking for speed won’t be disappointed.

We have so much more to do than all the other coasters. We often have families spending the whole afternoon with us. We have the coaster, feeding the goats, the unique store, gem mining, homemade fudge and ice cream, and more.

Biggest things that set us apart from the other coaster in the area is our lowest price re-ride. Every ride after your first is only 5 dollars. A lot of people end up experiencing the ride during the day and then coming back for 5 dollars that night and seeing all the lights.

What are the coaster requirements?

  • The driver of the sled has to be at least 54 inches (4.5 ft) tall.
  • The driver must be at least 16 years old to drive a passenger.
  • Minimum age of the passenger – 3 years old.
  • The maximum height allowed on is 84 inches (7 ft).
  • The weight limit per sled is 375 pounds (330 in wet weather) for safety reasons.

Is there a way to get a free ticket? What about group discounts?

Yes, check our Facebook page. for regular contests to win free tickets. If you are a group, don’t hesitate to call and get special group rates.
