Dollywood is a 130-acre theme park in Pigeon Forge. It’s known for thrilling coasters, outstanding shows and parades, good eats and family friendly fun. It transforms into a winter wonderland each year for the Smoky Mountain Christmas celebration. More than 5 million lights span across the park and a 50-foot Christmas tree serves as the centerpiece.Dollywood
The 50-foot tree resides in the Glacier Ridge section of the park. Here you’ll also find a symphony of lights and a walk-through canopy of lights representing the Northern Lights. You’ll also find a number of shows at Dollywood for Christmas. The main shows, Christmas in the Smokies, It’s a Wonderful Life and ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, are holiday classics you’ll find on stage at Dollywood. Sometimes it’s too easy to get caught up in celebrating and forget the real reason behind the holiday season. Celebrate the birth of Christ with true Dollywood flair at the Smoky Mountain Christmas Chapel. You’ll find a worship service every evening at 5:30 and be reminded that Jesus is the reason.
What to Know Before You Go
If you’re heading to the Dollywood Christmas celebration, it’s important to bundle up! The average low temperature in Pigeon Forge in December is just 30 degrees, so taking in the lights in the evening can get chilly. It’s also important to be aware of the park’s operating hours. Dollywood is closed on Monday and Tuesday during the Christmas celebrations. Hours are 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Also note that Dollywood is closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
