For more than 30 years, the city of Gatlinburg has celebrated the beginning of Winterfest with its annual Gatlinburg Chili Cookoff presented by Bush’s Beans. The tradition continues with live entertainment and mouth watering chili sampling, with mouth-watering recipes of homemade chili ranging from mild and delightful to wild and adventurous.
This year the Gatlinburg Chili Cookoff will take place in the Shade Tree Parking Lot (120 Airport Road) in front of the Gatlinburg Convention Center. Special guest On The Border, The Ultimate Eagles Tribute Band will be providing entertainment starting at 6:00 pm.
City leaders will participate in an official lighting ceremony for Smoky Mountain Winterfest that features millions of twinkling lights adorning Gatlinburg Winter Magic light displays throughout the city.
Tickets are required for entry to and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Due to the popularity of this event, advanced ticket purchase is suggested. No refunds. Ages 5 & up must have a ticket for entry. Under 5 are free, but will not be given a spoon for sampling.
VIP tickets will get you in to the International Chili Society Cookoff and get to experience some of the best chili around; these are $50 per person for early entry beginning at 4:00 pm. Early access tickets are $30 per person for early entry at 5:00 pm. General Admission tickets are $20 per person beginning at 5:30 pm.
