NEW FOR 2026: The Smoky Mountains have been overrun, the evacuation order has been issued, and Rocky Top Mountain Coaster is calling all civilians.

This fall, Rocky Top Mountain Coaster will debut Zombie Invasion, an all-new haunted coaster event running on select dates throughout September and October. Much like the former Coast & Goblins Halloween event held at Rocky Top Mountain Coaster, Zombie Invasion will combine live actors, large-scale themed environments, special effects and the excitement of a nighttime mountain coaster ride into one unforgettable experience.

Guests will step into the middle of an active military base in the Smoky Mountains, where the experience begins long before the coaster leaves the station. Surrounded by military personnel, themed environments, emergency broadcasts and pre-show elements, guests will become part of an unfolding evacuation as the infected close in and time runs out. The only way to escape is to board a mountain coaster vehicle and descend into the darkness.

What follows is an adrenaline-filled journey down the mountainside featuring soldiers, zombies, military theming, atmospheric lighting, fog, special effects and unexpected encounters throughout the ride.

More Details:

• Starting on Friday, September 11, Zombie Invasion takes place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Tuesdays for the remainder of the month.
• In October, the event happens almost every day; Zombie Invasion does not take place on October 19, 21, 26 or 28.
• Normal coaster operation starts at 10:00 PM daily and will have a variable cutoff time around 6:00 PM on Zombie Invasion nights. The cutoff time may vary based on demand and event preparation needs.
• The line for Zombie Invasion opens at 6:30 PM on event nights, with the first ride dispatching at 7:30 PM.
• Special event wristbands are required.
• Regular tickets, third party tickets, and coupons are not accepted.
• Event tickets may be purchased until 11:00 PM, and operations will continue until all ticketed guests have completed the experience.

Tennessee Days

September 15, 22, and 29: Rocky Top Mountain Coaster is celebrating Tennessee residents with discounted special event admission for three dates in September. On these select dates, Tennessee residents can experience Zombie Invasion for just $18.99 per adult and $9.99 per child. Guests ages 16 and older must present a valid Tennessee photo ID to receive the offer. Children ages 15 and younger without a photo ID must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with a valid Tennessee photo ID. Tickets must be purchased at the window to receive the Tennessee resident discount.

Zombie Invasion is an immersive event featuring live actors, zombies, military-themed environments and simulated weapon props, strobing lights, fog, loud sounds, darkness, sudden scares and other special effects.
