Gatlinburg SkyBridge & More Things To Do at Gatlinburg SkyPark

The Gatlinburg SkyBridge was added to the iconic Gatlinburg SkyPark back in 2018 and has since become a staple for any visitor looking for some of the best views of the Great Smoky Mountains. The park originally opened in 1954 with the main attraction being the SkyLift, a chairlift to carry visitors up the mountain. Today the award-winning mountaintop park has many exciting features that all ages can enjoy; it's on our list of the top 100 things to do in the Smoky Mountains.

The Original SkyLift

The SkyLift is the longest running attraction in the city of Gatlinburg. When it originally opened more than 60 years ago, it was the south's first scenic chairlift to be open for all four seasons. The mechanisms were rebuilt in 2017 to create what is now a smooth and comfortable 3 seat ride to the top of the park.

The Gatlinburg SkyBridge

Cross the sky on the Gatlinburg SkyBridge, the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America. This fantastic feat of architecture stretches for 680 feet over a deep Smoky Mountain valley - which you can observe through the glass flooring at your feet. This kind of vantage point is one of your best options for taking in the mountain scenery.

The Gatlinburg SkyTrail

A newer addition to the park is this scenic walkway that connects each end of the Gatlinburg SkyBridge via a leisurely hike that provides all new kinds of views of the suspension bridge itself. The Gatlinburg SkyTrail is only a little more than a third of a mile in length, making it enjoyable for both adults and children. You can even bring your dog along, making it one of the only hiking trails where dogs are allowed. Check out the park's rules on dogs on their website's FAQ page.

The Gatlinburg SkyDeck

One of the best places to have a drink in the Smokies is without a doubt the SkyDeck ampitheater. Grab a brew from the SkyCenter (which is also host to a cafe and gift shop) and find a spot to relax. It's especially lovely in the peak of October when you can see the beautiful colors of Mount LeConte from a cozy seat by the firepit. This spot is so insta-worthy, literally all of your friends will be jealous when they see you in front of these incredible views atop Crockett Mountain.

You're undoubtedly ready to plan your great Gatlinburg vacation, so start by booking the perfect cabin rental and making your wish list of the top attractions you want to visit while you're here. We know the Gatlinburg SkyBridge will be at the top.
