Trail Description Written by Caroline Sullivan

Hatcher Mountain Trail is a short and relatively easy connector trail located on the western side of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is most often used as part of a loop hike with Cooper Road Trail and Little Bottoms from the Abrams Creek Campground, or with Abrams Falls Trail from Cades Cove.

This a woodsy, enclosed trail surrounded by pines. In the winter you can catch a few views of Thunderhead Mountain and even Gregory Bald through the bare trees. The lower half of the trail has several patches of fringed polygala that you might find blooming in May. Look out for a handful of gnarled, misshapen chestnut oaks on either side of Hatcher Mountain Trail.
