Dollywood's Splash Country is the most well-known Pigeon Forge waterpark. If you are looking to make memories your family will always cherish, Dollywood's Splash Country is a must-do during the summer months. My family & I make a point of heading to Dollywood and Dollywood's Splash Country at least once every summer (ok, maybe twice!) to take in all of the food, waterslides and water fun.
Splash Country Season & Hours
The season at Dollywood's Splash Country runs from mid-May through Labor Day. Throughout the season, hours and dates vary based on how many visitors are expected. Once the park opens up in May it is open daily until Labor day. One, 2 & 3-day tickets are available as well as season passes so you can pick the option that best fits your trip length and budget. Splash Country discount tickets can be found with a little preplanning and research.
About The Park
My family is not new to the Splash Country scene, but we are always impressed with how much there is to do when you visit. There is a great mix of thrilling slides and rides plus a lazy river and a wave pool. There are even areas for the littler guests to splash and play. When we go, we bring kids, teens and adults along so it is nice to know there will be something for everyone to enjoy all day long. We arrive right when the park opens to get settled before the crowds take over. I would definitely recommend this so you can sneak in a few slides before the lines get longer.
Mom Pro Tips
- Bring an empty water bottle. You can get complimentary water throughout the park and save money on drinks plus stay hydrated!
- Pack a pair of inexpensive flip flops. Walking around all day on the pavement can be hard on feet, especially little ones. Pack a pair of cheapie flips flops and wear them as you go from ride to ride. You can leave them at the bottom of the rides and slip them back on when you head to your next adventure.
Our Must-Have Additions
Looking back on our days at Splash Country, there are some additions we purchase that we wouldn't ever go without. These extra amenities let us have a more relaxing experience and also saved us from waiting in lines and wasting time.
I reserve the retreat over near The Cascades. With 200 square feet of shaded space and 100 square foot sun deck we had plenty of space to spread out. We spend the extra money and rent a retreat for a few reasons. One, we like to have a break from the sun. It can get hot on the park so this allows us to recharge and regroup. Secondly, we like to have some private space. If you have a little one that may need a nap, the retreat is the perfect option. You can draw net drapes for added seclusion.
Renting a retreat also comes with the benefit of being able to have food and drinks delivered right to you. No more standing in line and balancing trays! One tip: be sure to reserve your retreat in advance as there are a limited number and they fill up quickly. Don't forget the other awesome amenities that you'll get with your rental, including:
- A 32-inch satellite television
- Ceiling Fan
- Dining table for 6
- 4 sundeck lounge chairs
- Secure storage
If this exact rental doesn't fit your budget or group size, no need to worry! There are plenty of others to choose from including a deluxe retreat, canopies and luxury loungers.
Timesaver H2O Pass
This was a first for our family this year and they were a hit! You can reserve your place in line without actually standing in line! Each of us had our own waterproof wristband. From this wristband, we could select which ride we wanted to do next and we would have a virtual place in line. This freed us up to enjoy the wave pool or lazy river instead of waiting in line. When it is time to ride, the wristband will vibrate to let you know.
Make plans to head to Dollywood's Splash Country while the park is open during the summer months. It's a great adventure for families and there is truly something for everyone. If you are hitting both Dollywood & Splash Country, we'd recommend booking a room in one of the hotels near Dollywood as soon as possible.
