Take A Ride On The Coaster At Goats On The Roof

goats on the roof alpine coaster

An experience like no other, The Coaster at Goats on the Roof is a thrilling excursion through the hills of the Smoky Mountains with a view that can’t be beat. The coaster’s carts are designed to comfortably carry two people, or you can ride solo with control over your own speed. We got the chance to ask owner Matthew Ayers some questions about just what makes The Coaster at Goats on the Roof such a one-of-a-kind adventure.

Why goats?

Who doesn’t love goats? They are great pets and everyone has such a unique personality that they are almost like people. They also love to let the kids pet them, especially when they have food.

How did you acquire the goats?

All the goats are from locals. The goats we do have always have their own babies every year. There is never a shortage of goats!

What sets you apart from the other coasters in the area?

We pride ourselves in our track design. It has some of the tightest turns and most thrilling features out of all the coasters. Obviously, you can go slow and enjoy our amazing views, but people looking for speed won’t be disappointed.

We have so much more to do than all the other coasters. We often have families spending the whole afternoon with us. We have the coaster, feeding the goats, the unique store, gem mining, homemade fudge and ice cream, and more.

Biggest things that set us apart from the other coaster in the area is our lowest price re-ride. Every ride after your first is only 5 dollars. A lot of people end up experiencing the ride during the day and then coming back for 5 dollars that night and seeing all the lights.

What are the coaster requirements?

  • The driver of the sled has to be at least 54 inches (4.5 ft) tall.
  • The driver must be at least 16 years old to drive a passenger.
  • Minimum age of the passenger – 3 years old.
  • The maximum height allowed on is 84 inches (7 ft).
  • The weight limit per sled is 375 pounds (330 in wet weather) for safety reasons.
