Winterfest After Christmas: Things To Do After The Holidays in Pigeon Forge

While Christmas in Pigeon Forge is a magical time to visit, there's still plenty of fun things to do during the winter months following the holiday season. During January and February the city slows down considerably; you won't find nearly as many crowds or traffic jams on the parkway. But the Winterfest lights are still on and most everything is still open! Here are some of our recommendations for non-holiday related winter things to do after Christmas in the Smoky Mountains.

Skyland Ranch

The lights are on through most of February at the Sevierville theme park SkyLand Ranch. Ride the chairlift to the top after the sun sets to experience the magic of their festive light displays. This is also a great place to visit during the day; the hundred acre farm has a petting zoo, mountain coaster, and plenty of dining and shopping options.

Wonders Of Light Walking Trail

It's still Winterfest even after Christmas in Pigeon Forge! This is a great time to check out the very popular Wonders of Light Walking Trail on the Riverwalk Greenway. The beautiful displays here can only be seen on foot, and after the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is over you are more likely to have plenty of room for your group to take it all in.

Wonders Of Light

It's also worth noting that the rest of Pigeon Forge doesn't go dark after the holidays. You can still enjoy all of the Winterfest lights on and around the Pigeon Forge parkway through late February. Some of the displays even change after Christmas!

Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Loop

Another great place to see the festive light displays even after Christmas is over is in the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community. Glades Road has some of the best light displays in the Smokies, featuring lots of "Gatlinbears" doing a variety of craftwork representative of this historic community. Head east on the parkway on Gatlinburg to find them.

Winterfest Night Flight

Another activity you can enjoy through mid to late February is a private nighttime tour from the clouds with Scenic Helicopter Tours. This is a truly unique experience: the Winterfest Night Flight soars above Pigeon Forge and Sevierville so you can see the glowing panoramic views from a totally different perspective.

Snowsports At Ober Mountain

The snow is blowing at Gatlinburg's very own Ober Mountain and there are plenty of ways to make the most out of winter at this beloved attraction. You can of course hit the slopes and enjoy some skiing or snowboarding, or slide down the snow tubing hill with the family. Younger children can enjoy playing in the snow zone with an accompanying adult.

Snow Tubing at Rowdy Bear

On the Pigeon Forge side of things, we recommend checking out snow tubing at Rowdy Bear's Smoky Mountain Snowpark. This hill is steep and great for adventurers looking for an adrenaline rush! They also have the super fun ski lift shootout game, a mountain coaster, and even axe throwing. It's a fun place to spend an entire day with the family.

Indoor Snow Tubing

If you want to add just a bit of snow activity to your day while still hitting a few spots on the parkway, Pigeon Forge Snow is a great option. They offer affordable indoor snow tubing and snow play year round, and it's extra convenient in the winter time because it remains 60-70 degrees inside! You get the best of both worlds here.
